DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation and Production
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes following standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
- Ensure all meals are produced on time and meet quality and presentation standards.
- Maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and plating.
- Support menu execution, including daily specials and seasonal offerings.
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene of the kitchen at all times.
- Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and inform management of shortages or requirements.
- Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries to ensure quality and freshness.
Food Safety and Compliance
- Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
- Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation (FIFO principles).
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
- Participate in routine kitchen inspections and audits.
Cost Control and Waste Management
- Minimize food wastage through proper handling and portion control.
- Support efforts to maintain food cost within budget.
- Utilize ingredients efficiently and report any losses or spoilage.
Teamwork and Communication
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with service staff regarding orders and special requests.
- Support and guide junior kitchen staff where necessary.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role within a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
