DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Garden and Landscape Maintenance

• Maintain lawns, flower beds, shrubs, hedges, trees, and other landscaped areas to a high standard.
• Mow, trim, weed, prune, and maintain gardens regularly to ensure a neat and attractive appearance.
• Remove fallen leaves, dead plants, branches, grass cuttings, and other garden waste from outdoor areas.
• Identify areas requiring planting, landscaping, repairs, or general improvement and report them to the supervisor.

Plant Care and Health

• Water lawns, flowers, trees, shrubs, and other plants according to their specific requirements and prevailing weather conditions.
• Plant and transplant flowers, trees, shrubs, grass, and other vegetation as required.
• Monitor plants for signs of pests, diseases, dehydration, or poor growth and take appropriate action.
• Apply fertilizers, compost, manure, and approved pest-control treatments to promote healthy plant growth.

Tools, Equipment and Safety

• Safely operate gardening tools and equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, pruning tools, rakes, hoes, shovels, and watering equipment.
• Clean, maintain, and properly store all gardening tools and equipment after use.
• Report damaged, missing, or defective equipment to the supervisor promptly.
• Follow safety procedures and use appropriate protective equipment when handling machinery, fertilizers, pesticides, and other gardening materials.

Compound Cleanliness and Presentation

• Keep the compound, gardens, lawns, pathways, and other outdoor areas clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
• Clear overgrown vegetation, weeds, leaves, branches, and other debris from walkways and common areas.
• Ensure trees, shrubs, hedges, and plants are properly trimmed and do not obstruct buildings, entrances, pathways, or other facilities.
• Support general outdoor cleaning and maintenance activities as required to maintain the overall appearance of the compound.

General Duties and Support

• Follow the gardening schedule and complete assigned duties efficiently and on time.
• Report gardening, landscaping, water supply, irrigation, pest, or safety issues to the supervisor.
• Work cooperatively with other compound staff and assist with landscaping or outdoor improvement projects when required.
• Perform other reasonable gardening and compound maintenance duties assigned by the supervisor.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Gardener, preferably in a residential compound, hotel, facility, landscaping company, or similar environment.
• Practical knowledge of gardening, landscaping, plant care, pruning, watering, and lawn maintenance.
• Experience using common gardening tools and equipment.
• Basic knowledge of fertilizers, pesticides, plant diseases, and pest control.
• Ability to identify common plant health problems.
• Physically fit and capable of performing outdoor and manual work for extended periods.
• Ability to work in hot and demanding weather conditions.
• Previous experience working in a compound or institutional environment is an advantage.
