DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate general ledger accounts.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Tax & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations including PAYE, VAT, withholding tax, and corporate tax.
- Prepare and submit tax returns in a timely manner.
- Keep abreast of changes in local tax laws and advise management accordingly.
- Liaise with KRA and other regulatory bodies as required.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Analyze variances between actuals and budgets and provide insightful commentary.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections.
- Review reconciliations of vendor and customer accounts.
- Approve and process journal entries and account adjustments.
ERP & Financial Systems Management
- Ensure proper use and optimization of accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage).
- Support systems upgrades and improvements to enhance financial reporting efficiency.
Team Supervision & Collaboration
- Provide mentorship and supervision to junior accounting staff.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K) qualification is mandatory
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a mid to large-sized organization
- Strong working knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, IFRS, and financial regulations
- Proficient in accounting and ERP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or Sage
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
