DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.
- Manage the full recruitment cycle including job advertisements, screening, interviewing, reference checks, and offer letters.
- Organize and conduct employee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary issues.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Provide guidance to staff and management on HR policies, procedures, and conflict resolution.
Benefits & Compensation
- Administer employee benefits programs including leave management, health insurance, and statutory benefits (NSSF, SHIF, PAYE).
- Ensure accurate and timely updates of employee records and payroll inputs.
- Liaise with relevant external bodies on statutory compliance and benefits.
Training & Development
- Identify staff training needs and coordinate capacity-building initiatives.
- Develop training calendars and partner with external trainers where necessary.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and maintain training records.
Compliance & HR Policy Implementation
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws, NGO regulatory requirements, and internal HR policies.
- Update and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee records and sensitive information.
Performance Management
- Lead the implementation of performance appraisal systems.
- Support managers in setting KPIs and monitoring staff performance.
- Recommend development plans based on performance reviews.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- A minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within the NGO or development sector
- CHRP certification (preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
