HYDROPONIC FARMING TECHNICIAN

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

System Setup & Maintenance:

• Install, configure, and maintain various hydroponic systems including NFT (Nutrient Film Technique), DWC (Deep Water Culture), and aeroponics.
• Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on system infrastructure, pumps, lighting, sensors, and irrigation components.

Crop Monitoring & Plant Health:

• Monitor crop growth and development to ensure optimal health and yield.
• Identify and troubleshoot plant health issues, including nutrient deficiencies, pests, and diseases.

Nutrient & Environmental Management:

• Prepare and apply nutrient solutions according to crop requirements.
• Monitor and control environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, and light intensity using sensors and control systems.

Data Collection & Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of system performance, plant growth, and nutrient usage.
• Provide regular reports and recommendations to the agricultural team and management.

Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure all operations comply with local agricultural regulations and best practices.
• Follow health and safety procedures to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Diploma or Degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field
• Proven experience working with hydroponic systems (NFT, DWC, Aeroponics)
• Strong understanding of plant physiology, nutrient dynamics, and environmental control systems
• Technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components of hydroponic setups
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Willingness to relocate to Seychelles (travel and accommodation provided)
