DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Curriculum Planning & Instruction
- Teach core Cambridge subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, and Global Perspectives, using a learner-centered approach.
- Develop detailed weekly and termly lesson plans in alignment with Cambridge curriculum objectives and scheme of work.
- Use diverse teaching methodologies (group work, differentiated instruction, active learning, inquiry-based learning) to meet the needs of all learners.
Assessment & Reporting
- Design and administer regular formative and summative assessments, including Cambridge Progression Tests and preparation for Checkpoint Exams.
- Monitor, evaluate, and record each child’s academic performance and progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Prepare detailed academic progress reports each term and participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss student performance.
- Use data to tailor interventions for students who are struggling and to challenge high-achieving learners.
Classroom & Learning Environment
- Establish a structured, respectful, and orderly classroom environment that fosters positive behavior, responsibility, and a growth mindset.
- Create a safe and nurturing environment that supports emotional wellbeing and encourages peer collaboration.
- Display and rotate student work to celebrate learning and foster motivation.
Pupil Development
- Guide students in developing core competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication.
- Provide pastoral care, emotional support, and conflict resolution as needed to support learners’ overall development.
- Identify learning difficulties and behavioral challenges and work closely with the SEN (Special Educational Needs) coordinator or administration to provide appropriate support.
Communication & Team Collaboration
- Maintain regular and open communication with parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
- Collaborate actively with fellow KS2 teachers and support staff to ensure curriculum consistency and cross-subject integration.
- Attend departmental meetings, staff training, and school events as required.
Professional Development
- Participate in ongoing professional development sessions and Cambridge-accredited training.
- Stay up to date with current educational research, strategies, and curriculum developments.
- Engage in reflective practice and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Education or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably in a Cambridge Curriculum setting
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Competency in lesson planning, assessment, and use of digital tools in teaching
- Commitment to student-centered and inclusive teaching practices
- High levels of initiative, creativity, and a team-oriented mindset
