DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transportation & Driving Duties
- Drive the employer safely to all scheduled destinations including work, meetings, appointments, social events, and personal errands.
- Ensure punctual pickups and drop-offs by planning ahead and monitoring traffic, weather, and road conditions.
- Assist the employer with entering and exiting the vehicle when necessary.
- Handle any unexpected route changes or delays calmly and professionally.
Vehicle Maintenance & Care
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, oil, water, lights, tires, brakes, battery, etc.).
- Schedule and track routine vehicle servicing and mechanical inspections.
- Ensure the vehicle is always clean, both inside and outside.
- Report any mechanical issues or needed repairs promptly.
- Keep the vehicle stocked with essential items (tissues, water, first-aid kit, phone charger, etc.).
Security & Safety
- Practice defensive driving at all times to ensure maximum safety for the employer and passengers.
- Ensure the vehicle is always locked, secured, and parked safely.
- Maintain awareness of surroundings and take precautionary measures when driving through high-risk areas.
- Uphold all traffic laws, regulations, and speed limits.
Errands & Personal Assistance
- Run assigned errands including deliveries, pick-ups, grocery shopping, and other personal tasks.
- Handle logistics such as carrying bags, packages, and documents as needed.
- Escort the employer to various destinations upon request, ensuring smooth transitions.
Time & Route Management
- Plan optimal routes in advance to avoid delays and improve efficiency.
- Use navigation tools (Google Maps, Waze) and local knowledge to choose the fastest routes.
- Manage daily schedules, anticipating travel times and overlaps.
- Maintain flexibility to accommodate sudden schedule changes.
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Keep accurate logs of travel distances, time spent, and fuel usage.
- Maintain records of repair work, servicing, and parts replacements.
- Track and manage fuel receipts, parking fees, and tolls when applicable.
Professionalism & Confidentiality
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the employer’s personal affairs, conversations, and whereabouts.
- Conduct yourself with courtesy, respect, and discretion at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance, including proper grooming and appropriate dressing.
- Communicate clearly, politely, and promptly with the employer regarding schedule updates or vehicle-related issues.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a personal or corporate driver
- Valid Driving Licence (Class B, C, E or relevant class)
- Defensive Driving Certification (advantage)
- Excellent knowledge of Nairobi roads, estates, routes, and major towns
- Strong time-management skills and reliability
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity, discipline, and confidentiality
