DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Service & Experience

  • Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and guide them to their tables.
  • Present menus, explain specials, and provide recommendations based on guests’ preferences.
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests.
  • Ensure guests have a seamless, memorable fine-dining experience from arrival to departure.

Order Taking & Accuracy

  • Take food and beverage orders clearly and accurately, using POS systems where required.
  • Repeat orders to guests for confirmation, ensuring no errors.
  • Communicate special dietary requirements, allergies, or preferences to the kitchen promptly.

 Food & Beverage Service

  • Serve food and drinks following fine-dining protocols, including correct sequence of service and plate placement.
  • Perform wine presentation and service, including opening, pouring, and pairing recommendations (if trained).
  • Monitor tables continuously to refresh drinks, clear used dishes, and ensure comfort.

Table Setup & Presentation

  • Set up tables with immaculate attention to detail, including cutlery, glassware, linens, and centerpieces.
  • Ensure mise en place is fully prepared before service (cutlery, condiments, napkins, trays, etc.).
  • Maintain an elegant and organized dining environment.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure accurate and timely order delivery.
  • Communicate guest complaints or issues to supervisors immediately and professionally.
  • Assist team members during peak hours to ensure smooth and efficient service.

Cleanliness & Hygiene

  • Clear, clean, and reset tables promptly after guest departure.
  • Ensure cleanliness of service stations, cutlery, trays, and glassware.
  • Follow food handling, hygiene, and safety regulations at all times.

Billing & Cash Handling

  • Present bills promptly and handle payments accurately.
  • Process transactions via cash, mobile money, or card systems.
  • Ensure correct billing and report any discrepancies to management.

Upselling & Revenue Enhancement

  • Actively promote special dishes, premium beverages, and add-ons to maximize revenue.
  • Recommend wine pairings or signature cocktails to enhance the guest dining experience.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a waiter in a high-end, fine-dining restaurant
  • Strong knowledge of continental cuisine and a wide range of alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to take orders accurately and serve food and beverages in accordance with fine-dining standards and protocols
