BUTCHERY ATTENDANT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in cutting, trimming, deboning, and portioning meat as per customer requests.
• Ensure all meat is properly displayed and labelled with accurate prices and expiry dates.
• Receive, inspect, and properly store deliveries of meat and other products.
• Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness of the butchery section, including countertops, cutting boards, knives, machines, and floors.
• Regularly sanitize tools and equipment in accordance with food safety standards.
• Dispose of waste and by-products appropriately and safely.
• Greet customers in a polite and friendly manner.
• Offer guidance on meat cuts, cooking methods, and portion sizes.
• Handle customer complaints or inquiries professionally and escalate when necessary.
• Ensure quick, efficient, and accurate service to all customers.
• Adhere strictly to food safety regulations, including personal hygiene standards.
• Wear proper protective clothing such as gloves and aprons at all times.
• Follow standard operating procedures and safety protocols for meat handling and storage.
• Assist with regular internal audits and health inspections.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• At least 2 years of proven experience in a busy butchery environment
• Basic understanding of meat types, cuts, and proper storage
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
• Ability to operate cutting tools and equipment safely and efficiently
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Physical stamina to stand for long hours and lift heavy items as needed
