DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CCTV Surveillance Monitoring
- Continuously monitor live CCTV camera feeds to detect suspicious behavior, unauthorized access, safety hazards, or criminal activity across all monitored areas.
- Apply sound judgment to assess whether observed activity requires escalation, investigation, or immediate action.
- Maintain vigilant awareness throughout the shift to ensure no blind spots or critical moments are missed.
Incident Detection and Response Coordination
- Respond promptly to any alerts or real-time incidents, including security breaches, accidents, or fire alarms.
- Communicate clearly with ground security personnel to verify incidents, provide guidance, and support rapid response.
- Document all incidents accurately in the incident management system and report them to the Security Supervisor and relevant stakeholders.
Control Room Operations Management
- Ensure all control room systems (CCTV monitors, alarm panels, intercoms, recording systems) are functioning correctly at all times.
- Perform routine system checks and basic troubleshooting or escalate technical faults to the IT or maintenance department.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and restricted access to the control room to protect sensitive data and equipment.
Video Footage Review and Evidence Handling
- Retrieve and review past surveillance footage upon request for investigations, audits, or legal proceedings.
- Securely extract, label, and archive relevant footage while ensuring the chain of custody is maintained.
- Collaborate with investigators or law enforcement as required, providing footage or live monitoring assistance under supervision.
Shift Handover and Reporting
- Prepare and deliver thorough shift handover briefings to ensure continuity between shifts.
- Complete daily activity logs, maintenance records, and incident reports with precision and clarity.
- Flag any unresolved issues or ongoing investigations for follow-up by the next shift or management.
Compliance and Confidentiality
- Adhere strictly to internal policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and relevant laws regarding data protection and surveillance.
- Treat all CCTV footage and operational information as highly confidential.
- Refrain from using CCTV systems for personal viewing or non-security purposes.
Liaison with Security and Emergency Services
- Maintain clear and professional communication with internal security guards, supervisors, and emergency responders.
- Assist in emergency situations by providing visual intel and coordinating support from the control room.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Certificate or Diploma in Security Management, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a control room environment, security operations, or CCTV monitoring
- Strong observational skills with attention to detail and the ability to remain focused over long periods
- Proficient in using CCTV systems and control room technologies
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures and incident reporting protocols
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Willingness and flexibility to work on rotating shifts (day/night/weekends/public holidays)
- Basic understanding of Kenyan security and privacy laws related to surveillance is an added advantage
