DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct Regular Site Inspections:

  • Carry out detailed, frequent inspections across all areas of the construction site to ensure works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor workmanship and material quality, identifying any deviations or non-compliant works.

Monitor Construction Progress:

  • Track project milestones and compare actual site progress with the project schedule.
  • Provide timely alerts to the Project Manager or consultants regarding delays, inefficiencies, or deviations from the project plan.
  • Ensure contractors maintain adequate productivity and follow proper sequencing of works.

Liaise with Project Stakeholders:

  • Act as the on-site representative of the client or supervising consultant to ensure design intent is followed.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and the main contractor to resolve technical queries and ensure proper coordination.
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings, offering professional insight on work progress, quality, and potential risks.

Ensure Compliance with Safety and Health Regulations:

  • Verify that all site activities adhere to legal and contractual safety and health standards.
  • Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), signage, and safety procedures.
  • Report unsafe practices or conditions and follow up on rectification.

Daily Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive daily site reports covering:
  • Work completed
  • Manpower on site
  • Equipment in use
  • Materials delivered and used
  • Safety observations
  • Issues encountered
  • Weather conditions
  • Maintain a photographic record of progress and any concerns on site.

Supervise and Support Site Teams:

  • Guide and support site personnel in achieving quality construction standards.
  • Actively participate in on-site problem-solving and ensure proper execution of instructions.
  • Verify that subcontractors and laborers understand project requirements and follow technical specifications.

Control and Verify Use of Materials:

  • Ensure materials delivered to site are as specified and stored appropriately.
  • Prevent the use of substandard or incorrect materials through close monitoring and verification.

Snagging and Handover Support:

  • Assist in compiling snag lists during project close-out.
  • Verify rectification of defects before final handover.
  • Support the preparation of documentation for project completion and client acceptance.

Maintain Site Records:

  • Maintain accurate records of site instructions, correspondence, inspections, approvals, and daily activities.
  • Keep a log of weather conditions, labor levels, and significant events.

Support Quality Assurance Processes:

  • Enforce quality assurance procedures, including testing of materials, workmanship inspections, and compliance with specifications.
  • Raise non-conformance reports where applicable and follow up on corrective actions.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma/Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Clerk of Works on active construction sites
  • Proven experience in site supervision and construction quality assurance
  • Solid understanding of construction health and safety standards
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders
  • Proficient in reporting and documentation tools (e.g., MS Word, Excel)
