DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safe Vehicle Operation
- Drive company vehicles safely at all times, adhering to traffic laws and company policies.
- Adjust driving based on weather, road, and traffic conditions to ensure passenger and cargo safety.
- Plan routes efficiently to minimize delays and fuel consumption.
Vehicle Maintenance and Care
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections, checking tires, brakes, lights, oil, and fuel levels.
- Report any mechanical faults or damage immediately to management.
- Ensure vehicles are clean, both inside and outside, and properly fueled.
- Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and servicing as directed.
Transportation of Staff and Goods
- Safely transport staff to various locations on time and in comfort.
- Handle goods carefully during loading, transit, and unloading to prevent damage.
- Maintain proper documentation for goods transported, including receipts or delivery notes.
Record-Keeping and Reporting
- Maintain accurate logs of mileage, fuel consumption, trips, and maintenance activities.
- Submit daily/weekly reports to management as required.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or traffic violations immediately.
Compliance and Safety
- Follow all traffic rules, road safety guidelines, and company policies.
- Ensure that vehicles carry the necessary legal documents (insurance, permits, registration).
- Stay updated on changes in traffic laws and regulations.
Professional Conduct
- Represent the company positively to staff, clients, and the public.
- Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
- Be punctual, reliable, and demonstrate integrity in performing duties.
Additional Support Tasks
- Assist with minor manual tasks such as loading/unloading goods.
- Help with emergency roadside situations, such as changing tires or basic troubleshooting.
- Be flexible to occasionally work beyond regular hours if needed.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Valid Kenyan driving license (Class B preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
- Strong knowledge of local roads, traffic patterns, and shortcuts within the CBD and surrounding areas.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Punctual, reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Physically fit to handle driving duties and occasional manual tasks such as loading and unloading goods.
