DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production & Preparation
- Prepare a wide variety of pastry items such as cakes, cookies, tarts, bread rolls, croissants, doughnuts, and other baked goods.
- Follow standardized recipes and production methods to ensure consistency and quality.
- Decorate and present products attractively for retail display.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Monitor stock levels of baking supplies and ingredients.
- Assist in ordering and receiving supplies in collaboration with the Bakery Supervisor.
- Ensure proper storage and labelling of ingredients to maintain freshness and compliance with food safety standards.
Quality Control
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards before they reach the customer.
- Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the preparation and display areas.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with other bakery and kitchen team members to meet daily production targets.
- Support the team during peak hours and assist in other bakery tasks as required.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding challenges or needs in the bakery section.
Customer Service
- Engage with customers in a friendly manner when required.
- Respond to customer inquiries or feedback about pastry items.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Minimum of 1-year experience in the pastry department of a retail store or supermarket
- Solid knowledge of various pastry techniques, ingredients, and tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and presentation
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal skills and a team player mindset
