DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Quotation Management & Conversion
- Prepare and issue accurate, competitive quotations to clients based on client requirements, market rates, and internal cost structures.
- Maintain a structured system to track all quotations sent, including timelines, conversion status, and client feedback.
- Actively follow up on quotations to understand reasons for success or failure and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
- Ensure target rates are applied correctly and align with sales and margin goals.
Time Management in Pricing Delivery
- Ensure all standard shipment quotations are delivered within 24 hours and project shipment quotations within 72 hours.
- Maintain internal tracking to measure compliance with response time standards.
- Implement and refine processes to streamline quotation preparation and delivery.
Profitability Tracking
- Analyze the profitability of each shipment in both USD and KSH to ensure alignment with company profit targets.
- Identify low-margin shipments and provide recommendations to improve profitability through better cost control or pricing.
- Maintain a profitability dashboard for ongoing performance tracking.
Revenue Generation Monitoring
- Track and report on revenue generated per shipment, ensuring it meets or exceeds expected benchmarks.
- Provide insights into pricing models that maximize revenue while remaining competitive.
- Collaborate with sales and operations to align pricing with revenue goals.
Carrier & Vendor Rate Negotiations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key carriers (airlines, shipping lines), clearing agents, and trucking companies.
- Negotiate and update special rates and contracts to secure competitive advantages for the company.
- Ensure agreed rates are documented and integrated into pricing tools for accurate application.
Pricing & Market Data Reporting
- Generate and analyze monthly pricing reports, segmented by direction, mode of transport, client, and salesperson.
- Monitor and report on quotation conversion rates to support strategic decision-making.
- Use data insights to identify pricing trends, client behavior, and areas of opportunity or concern.
Strategic Price Optimization
- Analyze historical data for returning clients to refine and optimize pricing strategies.
- Adjust pricing to improve profitability while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Develop tailored pricing models for high-value or repeat clients to incentivize loyalty and increase lifetime value.
Cost Structure Management
- Conduct monthly reviews of all cost elements included in quotations (freight, handling, customs, etc.).
- Collaborate with procurement and operations to update cost data regularly.
- Ensure cost accuracy in the pricing tool to avoid margin leakage and pricing errors.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Professional certification in pricing, logistics, or supply chain management (e.g., CILT, CPSM, or CPP) is an added advantage
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret pricing data, cost structures, and market trends
- Ability to develop competitive pricing strategies that balance revenue growth and profitability
