DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Diagnosis & Treatment
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including history taking and physical examinations
- Diagnose common acute and chronic medical conditions
- Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans for patients
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment outcomes
Clinical Procedures & Minor Surgery
- Perform approved minor surgical procedures within scope of practice
- Provide wound care, suturing, incision and drainage, and other minor procedures
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and surgical safety protocols
Diagnostic Services
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations
- Use test results to support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions
- Communicate findings clearly to patients and healthcare team members
Emergency Care
- Assess and stabilize emergency cases presenting at the facility
- Provide life-saving interventions when required
- Refer complex or critical cases to higher-level facilities appropriately
Patient Management & Follow-Up
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Provide patient counselling and health education
- Ensure continuity of care through proper follow-up systems
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records
- Document clinical findings, treatments, and procedures performed
- Prepare clinical reports as required by the facility
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work closely with nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, and shift handovers
- Support efficient clinic operations and patient flow management
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution
- Must be a licensed and registered Clinical Officer
- Valid practicing license from the relevant regulatory body
- 2–3 years of post-qualification experience in a busy clinical setting
- Experience in outpatient care, minor procedures, and emergency management
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to handle emergencies calmly and effectively
- Competence in minor surgical and procedural skills
