DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Food Preparation and Production

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes following standardized recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Ensure all meals are produced on time and meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and plating.
  • Support menu execution, including daily specials and seasonal offerings.

Kitchen Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and hygiene of the kitchen at all times.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Monitor stock levels and inform management of shortages or requirements.
  • Assist in receiving and inspecting deliveries to ensure quality and freshness.

Food Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
  • Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation (FIFO principles).
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Participate in routine kitchen inspections and audits.

Cost Control and Waste Management

  • Minimize food wastage through proper handling and portion control.
  • Support efforts to maintain food cost within budget.
  • Utilize ingredients efficiently and report any losses or spoilage.

Teamwork and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with service staff regarding orders and special requests.
  • Support and guide junior kitchen staff where necessary.
  • Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times.

 

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a hotel, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
