HOME SCHOOLING TEACHER (MATHEMATICS & SCIENCES)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching & Learning

• Deliver personalized lessons in Mathematics and Science aligned with the relevant curriculum.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual learning needs and abilities of each student.
• Ensure lessons are engaging, interactive, and focused on achieving academic excellence.
• Provide additional academic support where necessary to strengthen understanding of key concepts.

Lesson Planning & Curriculum Delivery

• Develop customized lesson plans tailored to each learner’s academic level and learning objectives.
• Prepare teaching materials, assignments, and assessments to support curriculum delivery.
• Ensure syllabus coverage is completed within the required timelines.
• Incorporate practical learning approaches and critical thinking activities into lessons.

Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring

• Assess students’ academic performance through assignments, tests, and continuous evaluations.
• Monitor individual learning progress and identify areas requiring improvement.
• Provide constructive feedback and implement intervention strategies to enhance performance.
• Maintain accurate records of academic progress and achievement.

Student Development

• Foster discipline, confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Nurture essential life skills, including problem-solving, communication, time management, and critical thinking.
• Encourage curiosity, creativity, and self-directed learning.
• Support students’ emotional and social development within the home-learning environment.

Co-curricular & Enrichment Activities

• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate extracurricular and enrichment activities that complement classroom learning.
• Organize educational projects, practical experiments, and recreational learning experiences.
• Encourage participation in activities that promote teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.

 Communication & Reporting

• Provide regular progress updates to parents on academic performance and overall development.
• Discuss learning goals, challenges, and recommended improvement strategies with the family.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working within the household.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Degree or Diploma in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
• Teaching qualification (PGDE or equivalent) is an added advantage.
• Experience teaching upper primary and secondary school learners (Years 6, 9, and 11) in a homeschooling or classroom setting.
• Strong knowledge of Mathematics and Science curricula.
• Excellent lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, adaptable, and passionate about learner development.
