DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Speech and Communication Therapy

  • Assess and provide individualized speech and language therapy sessions.
  • Develop strategies to improve verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Support the child in improving speech clarity, language comprehension, and expressive communication.
  • Encourage effective communication during daily interactions and learning activities.

 Fine Motor & Occupational Therapy Support

  • Design and implement activities to improve fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity.
  • Support the development of handwriting, pencil grip, and other functional daily living skills.
  • Use age-appropriate therapeutic techniques and exercises to enhance motor development.
  • Monitor the child’s progress and adjust therapy plans as needed.

Social & Play-Based Development

  • Plan and facilitate structured play activities that promote social interaction and developmental milestones.
  • Encourage positive social behaviours, confidence, and independence.
  • Use play-based interventions to improve cognitive, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Foster a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment.

Progress Monitoring & Parent Communication

  • Maintain accurate daily records of therapy sessions, activities, and progress.
  • Provide regular feedback and progress reports to parents.
  • Recommend home-based exercises and activities to reinforce therapy goals.
  • Collaborate with parents to monitor the child’s development and recommend appropriate interventions.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
  • Valid professional registration or licensing where applicable.
  • Experience working with children requiring speech and fine motor development support.
  • Knowledge of child development and therapeutic intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, compassionate, and able to build positive relationships with children and families.
  • Strong speech and language therapy skills.
  • Knowledge of fine motor and occupational therapy techniques.
