WIRELESS ISP FIELD TECHNICIANS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Field Installations & Deployment

• Fiber Deployment: Execute end-to-end fiber drops from distribution points to customer premises, ensuring neat and durable cable routing.
• Structural Cabling: Perform precise Cat6 cable terminations, RJ45 crimping, wall mounting, and interior structured cabling according to company quality standards.
• On-Site Setups: Mount and align Customer Premises Equipment (CPEs), wireless radios, access points, and home routers to guarantee optimal signal strength and throughput.

Preventive Maintenance & Asset Care

• Network Infrastructure Care: Perform scheduled checks on overhead lines, distribution boxes, and active network nodes to prevent service disruptions.
• Cable Management: Maintain high standards of physical cable management on utility poles and buildings to minimize environmental wear and tear.
• Equipment Audits: Monitor and report on the condition of local infrastructure, tracking equipment usage and spare parts inventory accurately.

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

• Fault Isolation: Respond promptly to customer downtime complaints, tracing issues from the local router up to the distribution hub.
• Technical Resolution: Utilize technical knowledge to resolve fiber cuts, signal degradation, connector faults, and basic networking configurations on-site.
• Splicing & Patching: Perform precise fiber splicing and patch-cord replacements to restore disconnected lines swiftly.

Field Safety & Compliance

• Working at Heights: Safely ascend and descend electric and utility poles using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and climbing gear.
• Hazard Awareness: Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety standards when working near high-voltage electrical lines and complex outdoor structures.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Diploma or Certificate in Telecommunications Engineering, Information Technology (IT), Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a strictly related technical field.
• Minimum of 2 years of active, hands-on experience in Fiber Optics installation, deployment, and troubleshooting within an ISP setting.
• Verifiable experience in electric pole climbing; must be physically fit and comfortable working at heights in diverse weather conditions.
• Comprehensive understanding of fiber splicing techniques and the handling of optical fiber equipment.
• Practical expertise in Cat6 termination, RJ45 connector layouts, and structured layout standards.
• Strong baseline knowledge of networking systems, local area networks (LAN), IP addressing, and Wi-Fi router configurations.
