DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and present key financial statements including: Income Statement (Profit & Loss), Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement
- Ensure all reports comply with IFRS/GAAP standards.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to management for decision-making.
Bookkeeping & Ledger Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records using double-entry accounting principles.
- Record and track all financial transactions including: Sales and revenue, Expenses Assets and liabilities
- Ensure proper classification and posting of entries in the general ledger.
Tax Compliance & Statutory Reporting
- Ensure compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) regulations and tax laws.
- Prepare and file statutory returns (e.g., VAT, PAYE, corporate tax) within deadlines.
- Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and reporting requirements.
Audit Support
- Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documents for external audits.
- Provide explanations and respond to auditor queries in a timely manner.
- Assist in implementing audit recommendations.
Internal Controls & Reconciliation
- Develop and implement internal controls to prevent fraud and financial errors.
- Perform regular reconciliations including: Bank accounts, Ledger accounts
- Monitor financial processes and recommend improvements where necessary.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional certification such as CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and Kenyan tax laws
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
