DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Development

  • Collaborate with the design and sales teams to interpret client briefs and project requirements.
  • Assist in conceptualizing and developing furniture and interior design solutions.
  • Generate design concepts through CAD software, 3D modelling tools, and hand sketches where necessary.
  • Prepare mood boards, material selections, and visual presentations to support project proposals.

Technical Drawings & Documentation

  • Produce detailed furniture production drawings using Archicad, SketchUp, or other CAD software.
  • Prepare technical specifications, dimensions, material schedules, and production documentation.
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards and manufacturing requirements.
  • Update and revise drawings based on client feedback and project changes.

Production Support

  • Liaise with the production team to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of approved designs.
  • Participate in design reviews and assist in resolving technical issues during production.
  • Conduct periodic quality checks to ensure finished products align with approved specifications and drawings.
  • Support project coordination from design development through final production.

Quality Control

  • Review drawings and design outputs for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential design or production challenges.
  • Assist in maintaining quality standards across all furniture and fit-out projects.

Research & Product Knowledge

  • Maintain a strong understanding of products within the company catalogue.
  • Research industry trends, materials, finishes, and emerging design innovations.
  • Recommend design improvements that enhance functionality, aesthetics, and customer satisfaction.

Administrative & Team Support

  • Organize and maintain design files, project records, and drawing archives.
  • Attend team meetings and provide updates on assigned tasks and projects.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Lead Designer or Management.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Furniture Design, Architecture, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a woodworking workshop, furniture manufacturing environment, fit-out company, timber production facility, or related industry.
  • Experience preparing technical furniture drawings is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Knowledge of Archicad is an added advantage.
