DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Landscape Maintenance

• Maintain lawns through regular mowing, edging, and trimming
• Rake leaves, remove debris, and ensure outdoor areas remain clean and tidy
• Weed flowerbeds, pathways, and landscaped zones consistently
• Ensure proper maintenance of hedges, shrubs, and decorative plants

Plant Care & Gardening

• Plant flowers, trees, shrubs, and grass as directed
• Water plants using manual or irrigation systems based on schedule
• Apply fertilizers, compost, and soil treatments appropriately
• Monitor plant health and report diseases, pests, or nutrient deficiencies

 Irrigation & Soil Management

• Maintain irrigation systems and ensure efficient water distribution
• Assist in digging, soil preparation, and land improvement activities
• Support seasonal planting and replanting programs

Equipment Handling & Maintenance

• Safely operate gardening tools such as lawnmowers, shears, spades, and trimmers
• Clean and store tools properly after use
• Report faulty equipment for repair or replacement

Safety & Environmental Care

• Follow safety procedures when handling tools, chemicals, and fertilizers
• Ensure environmentally friendly gardening practices are applied
• Maintain cleanliness of storage areas and work zones

General Support Duties

• Assist in landscaping projects and outdoor beautification initiatives
• Support event preparations requiring outdoor space arrangement
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• KCSE certificate or Vocational Training Certificate in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscaping, or related field
• Minimum 2 years’ practical experience in gardening, landscaping, or groundskeeping
• Basic understanding of plant care, soil management, irrigation, and pest control
• Ability to operate basic gardening tools and equipment
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors for long hours
• Strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail
