DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lathe Machine Operation:
- Set up and operate manual and CNC lathe machines to fabricate or modify metal and plastic parts according to job specifications.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and fixtures for the specific task at hand.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to controls and tool paths as necessary to maintain high precision.
CNC Programming and Adjustments:
- Read and interpret G-code and CNC programs to ensure accurate part production.
- Make minor edits to CNC programs at the machine control when needed to correct errors or improve performance.
- Collaborate with engineers or programmers to resolve technical issues during the machining process.
Welding and Fabrication:
- Perform welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Arc) as required for assembly, repair, or reinforcement of components used in plastics manufacturing machines.
- Inspect welded joints to ensure structural integrity and adherence to specifications.
- Prepare surfaces for welding, including grinding, cutting, and cleaning.
Blueprint and Drawing Interpretation:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical manuals, and part specifications.
- Use this information to accurately set up jobs and inspect finished work for conformance to specifications.
Quality Control and Inspection:
- Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges to ensure parts meet quality standards.
- Document measurements and quality control results, and identify any deviations from tolerance.
Routine Maintenance:
- Perform basic preventive maintenance on machines, such as cleaning, oiling, and replacing worn tools or parts.
- Report breakdowns or malfunctions to the maintenance team or supervisor for prompt repairs.
Workplace Organization and Safety:
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace in line with 5S or other workplace organization standards.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report safety hazards or incidents immediately to the appropriate authority.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with production supervisors, maintenance personnel, and fellow operators to ensure smooth workflow.
- Communicate any issues affecting production efficiency or quality in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in daily briefings, team meetings, and training sessions as required.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Machining, CNC Programming, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience operating both manual and CNC lathe machines
- Welding experience with knowledge of various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, etc.)
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a plastics manufacturing or similar industrial setting
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
