DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for all construction activities.
- Conduct material take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Forecast cost trends and advise on cost-saving strategies.
Tendering and Procurement:
- Prepare tender documents including bills of quantities (BOQs), specifications, and schedules.
- Analyze and evaluate supplier and contractor quotations.
- Recommend suitable contractors based on cost and capability.
Contract Administration:
- Prepare and manage contracts with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Administer contractual correspondence and ensure compliance with terms.
- Negotiate contract variations and claims.
Cost Control and Financial Reporting:
- Monitor ongoing project costs and maintain accurate records of expenditures.
- Prepare interim valuations and payment applications.
- Produce financial reports for stakeholders and update cash flow forecasts.
Final Accounts and Audits:
- Prepare final accounts for projects upon completion.
- Reconcile project costs with initial estimates and explain variances.
- Assist with project audits and verification processes.
Daily Site Management:
- Oversee daily site operations ensuring that work proceeds according to schedule and quality standards.
- Coordinate site activities with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain a visible and consistent presence on site to monitor progress.
Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure all construction activities are carried out according to drawings, specifications, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to prevent defects and delays.
- Address any issues affecting quality or schedule promptly.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Enforce strict compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Conduct site safety inductions and briefings.
- Monitor and report any accidents or near-misses and implement corrective measures.
Technical Supervision and Coordination:
- Interpret technical drawings and communicate instructions to site workers.
- Liaise with engineers, architects, and surveyors to clarify details.
- Resolve on-site technical problems with minimal impact on cost or time.
Site Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records including daily logs, material usage, manpower deployment, and work progress.
- Prepare and submit regular site reports to management.
- Assist in compiling site completion reports and handover documentation.
Resource and Logistics Management:
- Plan and manage delivery schedules for materials and equipment.
- Track inventory and manage efficient use of site resources.
- Prevent wastage of materials and labor hours through effective planning.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in both quantity surveying and site supervision roles
- Proven track record of managing budgets and supervising construction projects from start to finish
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and construction cost estimating software is an added advantage
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations
