DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Machinery Design & System Development
- Design, develop, and improve automated packaging machinery and mechanical systems to enhance operational efficiency and production output.
- Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, and system specifications using CAD software.
- Support the installation, commissioning, and upgrading of industrial automated systems including conveyors, robotic handling systems, sealers, and packaging lines.
- Conduct feasibility assessments and recommend engineering solutions for process optimization.
- Participate in equipment modification and automation projects aimed at reducing downtime and increasing productivity.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns within production lines.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for automated machinery and related mechanical systems.
- Coordinate machine repairs and ensure timely restoration of operations to minimize production interruptions.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Maintain proper maintenance records, reports, and equipment history documentation.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all machinery and engineering activities comply with occupational safety and manufacturing standards.
- Implement and monitor machine safety systems and safeguards to reduce workplace risks.
- Conduct routine inspections and risk assessments on equipment and production systems.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational safety and process efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with electrical, automation, and controls teams to improve machine integration and overall production performance.
- Work closely with production and operations teams to address technical challenges and optimize workflow efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and training to machine operators and maintenance personnel where necessary.
- Participate in engineering meetings, process improvement discussions, and technical audits.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a busy manufacturing environment with automated machinery.
- Strong hands-on experience with industrial packaging machinery, conveyors, robotic systems, and sealing equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software for mechanical design and technical documentation.
- Solid understanding of industrial automation systems, mechanical maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience implementing preventive maintenance systems and equipment reliability programs.
- Knowledge of manufacturing safety standards and machine safeguarding practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
