DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Food Preparation and Cooking

  • Prepare all ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, and measuring according to recipes
  • Cook a variety of meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) depending on the menu
  • Follow standard recipes and cooking methods to ensure consistency in taste and presentation

Meal Presentation and Service

  • Plate food in an attractive and hygienic manner before serving
  • Ensure correct portion sizes are served as per guidelines
  • Support timely delivery of meals during service hours

Kitchen Hygiene and Cleanliness

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times
  • Clean work surfaces, utensils, and cooking equipment before and after use
  • Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations

Food Safety and Storage

  • Store food items correctly (refrigeration, dry storage, covered containers)
  • Check expiry dates and ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO method – First In, First Out)
  • Monitor food temperatures during storage and cooking

Kitchen Equipment Usage and Maintenance

  • Safely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, mixers, and fryers
  • Report any faulty equipment immediately
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use
  • Handle tools carefully to prevent damage and accidents

 Teamwork and Coordination

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Follow instructions from the Head Cook or Supervisor
  • Assist colleagues during busy periods or peak service times
  • Maintain a respectful and cooperative working environment

Time Management and Pressure Handling

  • Prepare meals within set timeframes, especially during busy hours
  • Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Remain calm and efficient during high-pressure service periods

 Compliance and Professional Standards

  • Follow all workplace policies and kitchen rules
  • Adhere to occupational health and safety standards
  • Uphold professionalism and discipline at all times

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Certificate in Food Production or a related field
  • Proven experience working as a Cook or in a similar kitchen role
  • Strong understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
  • Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow instructions and standardized recipes accurately
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays if required
