DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Preparation and Cooking
- Prepare all ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, marinating, and measuring according to recipes
- Cook a variety of meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) depending on the menu
- Follow standard recipes and cooking methods to ensure consistency in taste and presentation
Meal Presentation and Service
- Plate food in an attractive and hygienic manner before serving
- Ensure correct portion sizes are served as per guidelines
- Support timely delivery of meals during service hours
Kitchen Hygiene and Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times
- Clean work surfaces, utensils, and cooking equipment before and after use
- Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations
Food Safety and Storage
- Store food items correctly (refrigeration, dry storage, covered containers)
- Check expiry dates and ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO method – First In, First Out)
- Monitor food temperatures during storage and cooking
Kitchen Equipment Usage and Maintenance
- Safely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, mixers, and fryers
- Report any faulty equipment immediately
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use
- Handle tools carefully to prevent damage and accidents
Teamwork and Coordination
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
- Follow instructions from the Head Cook or Supervisor
- Assist colleagues during busy periods or peak service times
- Maintain a respectful and cooperative working environment
Time Management and Pressure Handling
- Prepare meals within set timeframes, especially during busy hours
- Prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced kitchen
- Remain calm and efficient during high-pressure service periods
Compliance and Professional Standards
- Follow all workplace policies and kitchen rules
- Adhere to occupational health and safety standards
- Uphold professionalism and discipline at all times
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Certificate in Food Production or a related field
- Proven experience working as a Cook or in a similar kitchen role
- Strong understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow instructions and standardized recipes accurately
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays if required
