DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Material Preparation and Cutting

• Accurately measure, mark, cut, and size MDF boards, plywood, and timber according to production specifications.
• Operate panel saws, circular saws, and hand tools to achieve precise dimensions and clean cuts.
• Inspect materials and plan cutting patterns to minimise wastage and ensure efficient material utilisation.

Door Manufacturing and Assembly

• Assemble and construct doors according to approved designs, technical drawings, and required dimensional tolerances.
• Ensure door panels, frames, and joints are properly aligned, square, secure, and structurally sound.
• Use appropriate adhesives, fasteners, and joining techniques to produce durable, high-quality doors.

Tools and Equipment Operation

• Operate woodworking hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently during cutting, drilling, shaping, and assembly.
• Conduct routine checks on tools and machinery, ensuring they are clean, functional, and properly maintained.
• Follow workshop safety procedures and report faulty equipment or maintenance requirements promptly.

Door Fitting and Hardware Installation

• Fit locks, handles, hinges, and other door hardware according to design specifications.
• Install and align door frames, ensuring correct positioning, secure fixing, and proper clearances.
• Test completed doors to confirm smooth opening and closing, correct alignment, and proper hardware functionality.

Quality Control, Finishing, and Safety

• Inspect finished doors for dimensional accuracy, panel squareness, joint alignment, and surface quality.
• Sand and prepare surfaces for painting, polishing, laminating, or other required finishing processes.
• Maintain a clean and safe workspace, use appropriate personal protective equipment, and minimise defects, rework, and material wastage.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Certificate or Diploma in Carpentry, Joinery, Wood Technology, or a related technical field is an added advantage.
• Proven hands-on experience in carpentry, woodworking, joinery, or door manufacturing.
• Practical knowledge of MDF boards, plywood, timber, and other materials used in door production.
• Experience operating panel saws, circular saws, power tools, and standard woodworking hand tools.
• Ability to take accurate measurements and interpret cutting lists, technical drawings, and production specifications.
• Knowledge of door assembly, frame fitting, hardware installation, and surface finishing techniques.
• Understanding of workshop safety procedures and proper handling of woodworking machinery.
