CASHIER

JOB SUMMARY

The Cashier will be responsible for accurately receiving and processing customer payments, issuing receipts, and maintaining proper transaction records. The role requires strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service to ensure smooth checkout operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Transaction Processing

• Receive and process customer payments via cash, mobile money, or card.
• Issue receipts and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
• Balance cash drawers at the end of each shift.
• Reconcile daily sales with accounting records.

Customer Service

• Provide courteous and professional service to customers at checkout.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve payment-related issues.
• Maintain a positive shopping experience by ensuring efficiency at the counter.

Record Keeping & Reporting

• Maintain accurate transaction logs and submit daily reports.
• Assist in preparing cash summaries for the finance department.
• Report discrepancies or irregularities in payments immediately.

Compliance & Controls

• Follow company policies on cash handling and fraud prevention.
• Ensure compliance with accounting and audit standards.
• Safeguard company funds and maintain confidentiality of financial data.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a cashier in a retail or supermarket environment.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred).
• Strong numerical and cash-handling skills.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
