CASHIER

JOB SUMMARY

The Cashier will be responsible for handling customer payments, processing sales transactions, issuing invoices and receipts, and maintaining accurate cash and transaction records.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cash Handling & Sales Transactions

• Receive and process customer payments accurately through cash, card, mobile money, and other approved payment methods.
• Issue receipts, invoices, and other relevant transaction documents to customers.
• Verify prices, quantities, discounts, and payment details before completing transactions.
• Maintain accurate records of daily cash and sales transactions.
• Conduct daily cash reconciliation and promptly report any discrepancies.

Invoicing & Order Processing

• Prepare and process customer invoices and sales documentation accurately.
• Confirm product descriptions, quantities, prices, and customer details before invoicing.
• Process sales orders through the company’s system or POS platform.
• Coordinate with sales and stores teams to ensure customer orders are correctly processed.
• Assist in resolving billing, pricing, and transaction-related queries.

Customer Service & Product Knowledge

• Attend to customers professionally and provide assistance with basic product and pricing inquiries.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of construction materials, ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, furniture, and related products.
• Verify product availability and coordinate with the relevant teams where necessary.
• Assist customers with payment and transaction-related queries.
• Maintain a professional and welcoming customer experience.

Records, Controls & Administration

• Maintain accurate records of cash collections, receipts, invoices, refunds, and other transactions.
• Prepare and submit daily cash and transaction reports.
• Ensure all financial documents are properly filed and securely maintained.
• Follow established cash-handling, payment, and internal control procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of customer and company financial information.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Diploma or Degree in any field.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Cashier, preferably within a construction hardware, building materials, tiles, sanitary ware, furniture, or related retail environment.
• Strong understanding of construction materials, ceramic tiles, sanitary ware, and/or furniture.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use POS, invoicing, or sales systems.
• Good numerical and reconciliation skills.
• Experience handling multiple payment methods is an advantage.
