DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cashier Duties (Front Office)
- Process customer payments accurately using cash, mobile money, and other approved payment methods.
- Operate the POS system efficiently and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
- Issue receipts and ensure proper documentation of all sales.
- Handle cash securely and ensure proper shift opening and closing balances.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist customers during checkout.
Back Office Operations
- Assist in stock receiving, counting, and recording deliveries from suppliers.
- Support daily stock reconciliation and report variances.
- Update stock records and assist in maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Assist in preparing reports on sales, stock levels, and cash summaries.
- Ensure proper filing and organization of retail documentation.
Cash Handling & Reconciliation
- Conduct daily cash reconciliations and balance tills at the end of each shift.
- Report and resolve any cash discrepancies immediately.
- Safeguard company funds and ensure adherence to cash handling procedures.
Store Support Duties
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the store.
- Support merchandising and product arrangement when required.
- Help monitor fast-moving and slow-moving stock items.
- Report damaged or expired stock to management.
Customer Service
- Assist customers in a polite and professional manner.
- Respond to basic inquiries regarding products and pricing.
- Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude at all times.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- KCSE/Diploma in Business, Accounting, Sales, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Previous experience working as a cashier or retail attendant in a minimart or supermarket is required.
- Basic knowledge of POS systems and retail operations.
- Understanding of stock handling and inventory control processes.
- Basic cash reconciliation and numerical skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong honesty and integrity in cash handling.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment.
