DESIGNER

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Product & Metalwork Design

• Design gates, doors, windows, railings, staircases, steel structures, frames, partitions, and other fabricated metal products.
• Develop practical and aesthetically suitable designs based on customer requirements, site conditions, and project specifications.
• Review existing designs and recommend improvements in functionality, materials, cost, and ease of fabrication.

2D & 3D Design Development

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D designs for metal fabrication and structural projects.
• Create accurate dimensions, layouts, elevations, sections, and other design details required for production.
• Modify and update designs based on client requirements, site measurements, engineering changes, and production feedback.

 Technical & Fabrication Drawings

• Prepare detailed technical, fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings.
• Develop cutting lists, material schedules, layouts, and other fabrication details.
• Ensure drawings accurately reflect required measurements, specifications, tolerances, and fabrication requirements.

Workshop & Production Support

• Provide technical support to welders, fabricators, and workshop teams during production and installation.
• Work closely with fabricators to ensure designs are practical, safe, and easy to manufacture.
• Resolve design-related challenges arising during fabrication and recommend suitable technical solutions.

Site Measurements & Installation Support

• Conduct site measurements and assessments to support accurate design development.
• Verify site dimensions and conditions before finalizing fabrication drawings.
• Provide technical guidance during installation to ensure the finished work matches approved designs.

 Quality & Design Compliance

• Review completed designs and drawings for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable technical specifications, safety requirements, and project standards.
• Identify and correct design errors before drawings are released for fabrication or installation.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, Design, or a related field.
• Proven experience in metal fabrication, steelwork, welding, or a related production environment.
• Practical experience designing fabricated metal products and preparing technical drawings.
• Experience working with welders and fabricators in a workshop environment will be an advantage.
• Proficiency in relevant 2D/3D design and CAD software.
