DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales & Customer Service

  • Greet and assist customers in selecting construction tools, building materials, and hardware products.
  • Provide expert advice on usage, suitability, and quality of construction materials (cement, timber, plumbing, electrical, paint, tools, etc.).
  • Promote new products and offer upselling/cross-selling suggestions.
  • Resolve customer queries, complaints, or returns professionally to maintain high customer satisfaction.

Cashiering & Transaction Management

  • Operate the POS system to process sales, refunds, and exchanges accurately.
  • Maintain cash drawer, prepare daily cash reports, and reconcile transactions.
  • Issue receipts and ensure all sales records are up-to-date.

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Monitor stock levels and assist in ordering, receiving, and storing inventory.
  • Organize and maintain merchandise displays, ensuring items are easy to find.
  • Track slow-moving or damaged stock and coordinate with management for proper action.

Administration & Reporting

  • Assist with basic administrative tasks, such as entering sales data into spreadsheets or reporting daily sales figures.
  • Maintain records of supplier deliveries and invoices.
  • Keep updated knowledge of market trends, product specifications, and pricing.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree or diploma in any field.
  • Minimum 2 years working in a construction hardware store or building materials retail.
  • Strong understanding of construction tools, materials, and hardware products.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office, POS systems).
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Honest, reliable, and punctual.
  • Physically capable of handling stock and hardware items.
