DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Support and Sample Collection

  • Assist with the collection, labeling, handling, and preparation of patient samples in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare patients for sample collection and provide clear, professional instructions throughout the process.
  • Ensure samples are correctly identified, documented, stored, and transferred to the appropriate laboratory area.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment during all sample collection activities.

Clinical and Nursing Support

  • Assist nursing and healthcare staff with routine patient care and other assigned clinical duties.
  • Monitor and document relevant patient information as directed by the supervising healthcare professional.
  • Support the preparation and organization of clinical areas, equipment, and supplies.
  • Follow infection prevention, hygiene, and patient safety procedures at all times.

Administration and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate patient records, registers, forms, and other healthcare documentation.
  • Assist with data entry, filing, appointment scheduling, and general administrative tasks.
  • Ensure patient information is recorded accurately and handled with strict confidentiality.
  • Support the preparation of routine reports and administrative records as required.

 Customer Service and Communication

  • Receive and assist patients and visitors in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Respond to routine patient inquiries and direct medical or technical questions to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Communicate effectively with nurses, laboratory staff, administrators, patients, and other team members.
  • Assist in coordinating patient flow and ensuring a smooth experience within the facility.

Compliance and General Support

  • Follow healthcare facility policies, standard operating procedures, and applicable professional requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention, workplace safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
  • Monitor clinical and administrative supplies and report shortages or equipment issues to the relevant supervisor.
  • Perform other reasonable nursing, laboratory support, and administrative duties assigned by the supervisor.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in sample collection and basic administration.
  • Experience working in a healthcare facility, medical centre, clinic, or laboratory setting is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of patient handling, sample collection, documentation, and basic healthcare procedures.
  • Strong record-keeping, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
