DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Assessment & Care
- Carry out initial and ongoing patient assessments including history taking, physical examinations, and vital signs monitoring
- Identify patient health concerns and support clinical decision-making by reporting findings to clinicians
- Develop and implement nursing care plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers
- Monitor patients’ conditions and respond appropriately to changes or emergencies
Medication & Treatment Administration
- Safely administer prescribed medications, injections, and treatments as per clinical guidelines
- Observe patients for adverse reactions and report complications immediately
- Ensure correct dosage, timing, and documentation of all medications administered
Clinical Procedures & Equipment Use
- Operate and maintain basic clinical equipment used in patient care
- Assist in minor clinical procedures as directed by the medical team
- Ensure proper sterilization and maintenance of instruments and equipment
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records
- Document all nursing interventions, observations, and patient progress
- Prepare and submit required clinical reports in a timely manner
Health Education & Patient Support
- Educate patients and families on disease prevention, medication adherence, and healthy lifestyles
- Provide emotional support and counselling where necessary
- Promote awareness of public health and hygiene practices
Infection Prevention & Safety
- Strictly adhere to infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of the clinical environment
- Promote safe handling of medical waste and hazardous materials
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with doctors, clinical officers, and other healthcare staff
- Participate in shift rotations, handovers, and clinic meetings
- Support smooth daily clinic operations and patient flow management
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Nursing from a recognized and accredited training institution
- Valid registration and practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
- 2–3 years of working experience in a busy clinic or healthcare facility
- Proven competence in patient care, clinical procedures, and medication administration
- Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced clinical setting
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
- Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
