DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching and Learning Delivery
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) for P1 learners.
- Create engaging and interactive lesson plans that foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to cater to different learning styles and abilities.
- Ensure learning is child-centered, promoting curiosity, confidence, and independence.
- Regularly review and adapt teaching approaches based on learner progress and feedback.
Learner Assessment and Portfolio Management
- Maintain detailed learner portfolios documenting each child’s progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Conduct continuous assessments and provide constructive feedback to learners.
- Prepare end-of-term reports and communicate progress to parents/guardians effectively.
- Identify learning gaps early and implement strategies to support learners in need of extra attention.
Curriculum Support and Resource Development
- Develop, source, and organize teaching and learning materials that enhance classroom engagement.
- Integrate educational technology and creative resources where appropriate.
- Align classroom activities with CBC core competencies, including literacy, numeracy, life skills, and values education.
Classroom Management and Environment
- Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Encourage positive behavior, social skills, and respect among learners.
- Establish routines that promote learner responsibility and independence.
Mentorship and Learner Development
- Guide learners in developing personal and social competencies, including teamwork, resilience, and communication skills.
- Identify talents and interests, providing opportunities for children to explore and grow.
- Support learners’ emotional and social well-being through active listening and encouragement.
Collaboration and Professional Growth
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and school leadership to improve teaching practices.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute to school initiatives, events, and activities that promote a positive learning culture.
- Stay updated with educational best practices, CBC requirements, and new pedagogical approaches.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians about learner progress and classroom activities.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and participate in school community events.
- Foster partnerships with colleagues to ensure consistency in teaching and learning across the school.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Education (Early Childhood/Primary Education preferred).
- 1–2 years of experience teaching under the CBC framework.
- Strong understanding of child development and competency-based learning approaches.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Passionate about nurturing young learners.
- Creative, patient, and enthusiastic about teaching.
- Committed to continuous professional development.
