PEST CONTROL/FUMIGATION TECHNICIAN

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspection & Pest Identification

• Inspect assigned premises, identify pest infestations, assess their severity, and determine appropriate treatment methods.
• Apply approved pest-control and fumigation treatments safely and effectively, including spraying, baiting, fogging, trapping, and other appropriate methods.
• Implement preventive measures, conduct follow-up inspections, maintain treatment records, and provide clients with recommendations to prevent re-infestation.

Chemicals & Equipment

• Demonstrate sound knowledge of pesticides, insecticides, rodenticides, fumigants, and other pest-control chemicals and their appropriate applications.
• Safely handle, mix, transport, store, and dispose of chemicals in accordance with product instructions and safety requirements.
• Operate, clean, and maintain pest-control equipment and ensure appropriate PPE is used during all treatments.

Health & Safety

• Follow all applicable health, safety, environmental, and chemical-handling procedures during inspections and treatments.
• Secure and clearly identify treated areas and ensure occupants, pets, and unauthorized persons are protected from exposure.
• Immediately report chemical spills, accidents, exposure incidents, equipment defects, or other safety concerns.

Client Service & Reporting

• Communicate professionally with clients, explain inspection findings, and provide clear pre- and post-treatment instructions.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, treatments, chemicals used, areas treated, and follow-up requirements.
• Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, confidentiality, and respect when working on client premises.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a Pest Control Technician, Fumigation Technician, Exterminator, or in a similar position.
• Certificate, diploma, or other relevant training in pest control, fumigation, environmental health, public health, agriculture, or a related field is an advantage.
• Demonstrated practical experience in pest inspection, chemical application, fumigation, and pest prevention.
• Good knowledge of different types of pesticides, insecticides, rodenticides, fumigants, and their appropriate applications.
• Experience handling pest-control equipment and PPE.
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and storage procedures.
• Ability to identify common pests and determine appropriate treatment methods
• Experience working in commercial, residential, hospitality, industrial, or institutional premises is an advantage.
