DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Production Operations

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Monitor production schedules and ensure efficient utilization of labour, machinery, and raw materials.
  • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with approved specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure production records and reports are completed accurately and submitted on time.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and company quality procedures.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the production process and ensure corrective actions are taken where necessary.
  • Conduct routine inspections of production processes and finished products.
  • Minimize product defects, wastage, and rework through effective process control.
  • Ensure proper hygiene and sanitation practices are maintained within the production area.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, motivate, and support production staff to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Allocate duties and monitor employee performance during each shift.
  • Train new employees on production procedures, food safety, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and adherence to company policies.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks and participate in performance evaluations.

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Monitor the availability and proper use of raw materials, packaging materials, and production supplies.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources to minimize waste and reduce production costs.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse and procurement teams to maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Report shortages or production material issues promptly.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce workplace health and safety regulations and ensure safe operation of production equipment.
  • Ensure employees wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report accidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and relevant food manufacturing regulations.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the production of tomato paste, sauces, jams, or similar processed food products is highly preferred.
  • Experience supervising production teams in a manufacturing setting is an added advantage.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Good understanding of food manufacturing processes and production planning.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP principles, and food safety standards.
