DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sewing & Garment Production
- Operate single-needle sewing machines to produce garments according to specifications.
- Sew garment components accurately while maintaining consistent stitching and finishing quality.
- Follow production instructions, patterns, measurements, and required garment specifications.
Alterations & Repairs
- Carry out garment alterations based on required measurements and specifications.
- Repair damaged or defective garments and ensure proper finishing.
- Inspect completed work and correct sewing or finishing defects where necessary.
Pattern Making & Measurements
- Prepare and modify garment patterns according to required designs and measurements.
- Take and interpret accurate measurements for garment production and alterations.
- Ensure patterns and measurements are suitable for the required garment style and specifications.
Quality & Production Standards
- Inspect garments during and after production to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Identify and report sewing defects, material issues, and production challenges.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, neatness, and finishing throughout the production process.
Machine & Workplace Management
- Operate sewing machines and other tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic machine checks and report equipment faults to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Certificate or other relevant qualification in Tailoring, Dressmaking, Garment Production, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of practical tailoring experience, preferably in an apparel or garment manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in single-needle sewing, garment alterations, repairs, and pattern making.
- Ability to read and follow garment patterns, measurements, and production instructions.
- Experience in an apparel export or large-scale garment production environment will be an added advantage.
