JOB SUMMARY
The Technical Procurement & Supply Officer will manage our local and international supply chains, ensuring that technical equipment and raw materials meet strict engineering specifications and quality standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supplier Sourcing & Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard local and international suppliers for technical components, laboratory instruments, and scientific materials. Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and cost-efficiency.
- Procurement & Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and shipping arrangements with suppliers. Ensure all procurement processes align with the company’s policies and regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all imported and locally purchased materials comply with Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and other applicable standards.
- Logistics & Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or project delays. Coordinate logistics for clearing and forwarding goods at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) or the Port of Mombasa, ensuring timely delivery.
- Quality Assurance: Read and interpret engineering specifications to conduct thorough quality audits on incoming materials and equipment. Identify and resolve discrepancies or defects to maintain project integrity.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend process improvements in sourcing, procurement, and supply chain operations to optimize efficiency and cost savings.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2–5 years in procurement, supply chain management, or technical sourcing, preferably within industrial, scientific, or engineering environments
- Strong understanding of engineering specifications and the ability to evaluate technical materials and components
- Familiarity with Kenyan import/export logistics, customs procedures, and KEBS standards.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and procurement software
- Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
