JOB SUMMARY
The Trade Development Representative will be responsible for growing sales, finding new business leads, and building strong distribution channels. Key duties include new outlets opening, obtaining orders, and managing WS to retail relationships.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales, Distribution & Route-to-Market Execution
- New Outlet Acquisition: Conduct daily territory mapping and market storming to identify, pitch to, and onboard new retail and wholesale stores.
- Order Generation: Execute a structured route plan to visit existing accounts, collect orders, and ensure prompt processing and delivery fulfilment.
- Price Compliance: Monitor and enforce the company’s recommended retail prices (RRP) across all stores to maintain market fairness and margin integrity.
- Stock & Merchandising Management: Audit in-store inventory levels, optimize product placement for maximum visibility, and execute the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method to completely eliminate expired stock.
Market, Partner Support & Relationship Management
- Wholesale-to-Retail (WS) Bridging: Manage relationships between wholesalers and retailers to ensure seamless product flow, prevent stockouts, and resolve channel conflicts.
- Stakeholder Training: Conduct on-site training sessions for retailers and agents regarding product benefits, unique selling points, and optimal merchandising techniques.
- Competitor Intelligence: Monitor and document competitor activities, including tracking price drops, new product launches, and regional marketing activations.
- Issue Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for field complaints, troubleshooting delivery delays, invoice discrepancies, and product issues within 24 hours.
- Commercial Reporting: Compile and submit daily sales performance trackers, weekly route coverage evaluations, and monthly market trend analysis reports to management.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Sales & Marketing, Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years’ relevant experience in FMCG sales, trade development, business development, distribution or a related commercial role.
- Experience in food, beverages or other fast-moving consumer goods will be an added advantage.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to undertake extensive field work will be an added advantage.
